This is a 16-day trip to Nepal, the roof of the world, home to the highest point on planet Earth. The route to Everest Base Camp is one of the most beautiful on the planet. You will see the beauty and feel the incredible force of the surrounding mountains towards EBC.

You don't need technical skills for this trip. Only your sense of adventure and a good fitness condition.

The Everest Base Camp Trek is the perfect mix of adventure, culture, and challenge. Imagine, impressive landscapes and feel an incredible sense of freedom and achievement.

 

The beauty of mountains like Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu will blow your mind. You will also discover the sherpa culture, traditions and cultural beliefs.

The EBC route offers accommodation and good food in the legendary tea houses along the way. Staying in tea houses is already an experience in itself.

 

The trek can be demanding when you reach the higher points of the trail. Yet the good news is that it doesn't need any technical climbing. We have designed the itinerary in a way that your body has time for acclimatization and recovery.

 

Your safety and comfort are our main priorities. For the entire tour, you will have by your side a certified and experienced mountain guide. You will also count on the local expertise and invaluable help of the legendary sherpas and porters.

Itinerary

 Day 1 | Arrival in Kathmandu
 

A member of our team will meet you at the Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer you to the hotel. In the evening, we will go for a welcome dinner in one of the most popular local restaurants, where we will enjoy great Nepali food, dance and culture.

  • Altitude: 1,300 m / 4,264 ft

Day 2 | Trek preparation and drive to Ramechhap (4-5h)

Breakfast will be provided at the hotel and there will be a safety briefing around 10 am. After the meeting, you will have time for lunch and then we will drive to Ramechhap in a private vehicle. Kathmandu to Ramechhap is about a 4 - 5 hour drive. Overnight in a hotel in Ramechhap (twin room).

Day 3 | Fly to Lukla and Trek to Phakding

 

Flights to Lukla start around 6 am in the morning. Ramechhap to Lukla is about a15 minutes flight. After reaching Lukla, breakfast will be provided. Here you will be introduced to the remaining members of your group, the porters. 

The porters will prepare the luggage and shortly after breakfast, the trek to Phakding begins, leaving the bustling village of Lukla. Apart from an occasional uphill climb on stone steps, today's walk is fairly easy, short and mostly downhill. Along the way, you'll find Mani walls, prayer wheels, small stupas, suspension bridges, and trail-side Sherpa settlements. You will reach Phakding around lunchtime.
 

After lunch, you will have some time to rest and in the evening, you will take a short walk to the nearby monastery for an acclimatization hike.

Day 4 | Trek to Namche

After breakfast in Phakding, we will start the day's walk. The hike from Phakding to Monjo is on an easy up-and-down trail that runs along the Dudh Koshi Nadi and the trail is accompanied by beautiful Rhododendron trees. After crossing the third suspension bridge the trail to Monjo grows steep. After completing the national park formalities in Monjo, we will continue further to Jorsalle for lunch and continue on a fairly easy up-and-down trail to Hillary Bridge, which is the highest and the longest suspension bridge in the Everest region. Crossing the
bridge, we will further continue up on a very steep trail to Namche, after enjoying the first view of Everest that appears sometimes after crossing the bridge.

Day 5 | Acclimatization in Namche

We are already above 3000 meters above sea level. Before gaining more altitude, we should allow our body to get accustomed to the change in oxygen level in the air. Keeping active boosts the process of acclimatization.

 

We will go on an acclimatization hike after breakfast. These hikes will give you an insight into Sherpa culture and lifestyle while allowing you to treat your eyes to the mesmerizing view of Mt. Everest with its surrounding peaks. We will come down to Namche for dinner.

Day 6 | Trek to Deboche

The trail contours to Sanasa, high above the river, where the trail to Gokyo Valley branches off, before descending to cross the Dudh Koshi River at Phunke Tenga. A well-maintained comparative flat trail presents a beautiful view of Ama Dablam, Lhotse Shar, Taboche, Kangtega and Thamserku. After crossing the bridge at Phunke Tenga, it's again a steep uphill climb to Tengboche. After reaching Tengboche, we will visit the famous Tengboche monastery and observe the prayer and then continue down to Debohce through the fir and birch forest for an overnight stay in a lodge/teahouse.

  • Sleeping altitude: 3820 m / 12,532 ft

  • Trekking time: 7- 8 hours

  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 7 | Trek to Dingboche

After breakfast in Deboche, we will further continue down to cross the river, through the beautiful forest. A pleasant hike through the forest will bring us to Pangboche. From here, on a gradually ascending trail that runs along the Imja River, we will hike to Somare. Trees completely vanish by this time. The trail grows rockier. Continuing further on a flat trail we will further hike down to the bridge that comes right after the trail branches off to Pheriche. Crossing the bridge, an easy walk on gradually ascending will take us to Dingboche.

  • Trekking time: 5 hours

  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 8 | Acclimatization in Dingboche

For the acclimatization hike, we will either go to Nangkar Tshang Gompa, or to Chhukung. The hike to Gompa is an hour-long hike to the ridge north of Dingboche, from here there is a viewpoint of Cholatse and Taboche, the lake at the foot of Ama Dablam and Chhukung and Makalu. There hike to Chhukung, is a full-day hike, but it presents the most elegant views of the Ama Dablam, Baruntse and Makalu. We will come back to Dingboche and spent the nigh here.

  • Trekking time: 1 hour or 7 hours

  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 9 | Trek to Lobuche

Leaving Dingboche, a gradual climb will take us to a trail junction at Thukla, past Dusa and Palrung Kharka. The views of Taboche and Cholatse look stunning. From the junction, the trail drops down to a glacial stream, where we will cross the bridge and rise up the other side heading directly up the rough moraine of the Khumbu Glacier, before, the trail curves left, to the number of memorials to the lost climbers and Sherpas. Soon the beautiful Pumori makes grand appearance. A challenging northward ascent over loose moraine will finally take us to Lobuche.

  • Sleeping altitude: 4910 m / 16,108 ft

  • Trekking time: 4 - 5 hours

  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 10 | Trek to Gorekshep - Everest Base Camp - Gorekshep

We will continue north on a narrow trail between the glacial moraine and the mountain wall. We will walk past the trail junction to Italian Pyramid, walk across the terminal moraine of the Changri Shar Glacier and continue to Gorekshep. After reaching Gorekshep, we will leave our luggage and continue our hike to Everest Base Camp. From Gorekshep, we will first head back to the Khumbu Glacier and hike up atop the ridge and following the mountain's spine, head directly north towards the mouth of the Khumbu glacier. Brightly colored fluttering prayer flags at the bottom of the Khumbu Ice fall mark the arrival of the base camp. After spending some time here, we will retrace our steps to Gorekshep, which will be our home for tonight.

  • Sleeping altitude: 5140 m / 16,863 ft (Gorekshep)

  • Higuest point: 5364 m / 17,598 ft (EBC)

  • Trekking time: 8 hours

Day 11 | Hike to Kala Patthar and trek to Pheriche

To enjoy the sunrise view from Kala Patthar, we need to start the trek 2 hours before sunrise. Therefore, we will start early in the morning and hike to Kala Patthar. After enjoying the sunrise view and the panorama of Pumori and Lobuche West to Nuptse, Lhotse and the mighty Everest, we will hike down to Gorekshep for breakfast and after a short rest we will start to hike down to Pheriche. We will retrace our
steps down the moraine to Dughla past Lobuche, drop down to the bridge and crossing the glacial 
stream, we will walk all the way down to Pheriche following the Pheriche path.

  • Higuest point: 5550 m / 18,208 ft

  • Trekking time: 7 - 8 hours

  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 12 | Trek to Namche

After breakfast in Pheriche, we will first hike down to the trail junction crossing the Pheriche Pass. We will then retrace the trail to Namche, past, Orsho, Somare, Pangboche, Deboche, Tengboche, PhunkeTenga and Kyangjuma. In Namche, we will check into the lodge and spend the time resting. Dinner will be in a lodge in Namche.

Day 13 | Trek to Lukla (2,840m), (18km), (6h)

After breakfast in Namche, we will hike all the way down to Lukla for overnight stay and to catch the flight next day.

  • Sleeping altitude: 2840 m / 9,317 ft 

  • Trekking time: 6 hours

  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 14 | Fly to Ramechhap and drive to Kathmandu

After breakfast in Lukla, we will fly to Ramechhap airport and then a private transfer will bring you back to Kathmandu. Lunch will be provided at one of the highway restaurants. You will check into the hotel and spend the remaining day doing your own thing.

Day 15 | Free day or Kathmandu Valley sightseeing tour

After breakfast at the hotel, you will have a full day guided city tour. You will visit 4 UNESCO World Heritage sites, namely, Pashupatinath, Swyambhunath, Boudhanath and the Kathmandu Durbar Square. Afterthe tour, in the evening, you will enjoy a farewell dinner.

Day 15 | Kathmandu - Departure day

We enjoy a last breakfast together and then it's time to pack all the memories and head back home.

How Challenging ?

High effort. This is a challenging adventure where we can expect 5 - 8 hours of trekking per day, somedays at high altitudes. Previous hiking experience is recommended.

  • Cost of WiFi, battery charging and extra hot shower during the trek

  • Cost of extra luggage levied by airlines while flying to Lukla (15 kilograms allowed)

  • Monument Entrance fees during the city tour

  • Cost of travel insurance covering helicopter evacuation over 5000 meters, trip cancellation and treatment caused by Covid-19 or any other unforeseen illness/disease

  • Tip to service providers (as an appreciation)

25% deposit is due to secure your spot, the remaining balance is due 60 days before the start of the trip. Once the trip is confirmed your deposit is non-refundable, however, it can be transferred to any other trip.

Cancellation policy:

  • Trip pending: a 25% down payment is fully refundable

  • Trip confirmed: a 25% down payment is non-refundable. You can transfer this down payment to any other of our trips within the next year

  • 60 days or less before the trip starts no refund available

Travel insurance is required for all of our trips. Make sure that your insurance covers trip cancellation (in case of any unforeseen circumstances)
